Vera's Ember Copper Earrings

Some pieces announce themselves the moment you put them on. I made these hoops for the women who have stopped apologizing for taking up space - each one cut from copper sheet, shaped by hand into its wide crescent form, then hammered across the full surface one strike at a time until the metal holds the memory of every blow.

Copper has been worn close to the skin for thousands of years by women who needed to feel grounded in their own bodies, and the ones who come back to me always say the same thing: they stopped noticing what they used to notice.

These are among the last earrings I'll make before I close my workshop for good. I hope they find the ears that are ready to be seen.
